Who now is the fairest... by Hagge Who now is the fairest... by Hagge
100 Theme Challenge #61 ~ Fairytale
I went literally this time.

Snow White is a young queen now, having been inadvertantly revived by the stumbling of the prince's servants, which jogs the apple bit from her throat. (Grimm version, NOT Disney)

At the great banquet Guess Who shows up, all aquiver and driven with extreme vanity and rage...but she was anticipated...she dances the rest of her bitter life and the night away in a pair of hot iron shoes kept ready for just the occassion. ( how Grimm!)

Grimm didn't say exactly what Snow White's actual reaction was at seeing the woman who tried to murder her three different times and made her life miserable in general.

In my mind's eye, she, at the feast, knows just who she's looking at, though.
Of course, the apple wouldn't have survived the time between bite and queendom, :) but I went ahead and put it there to show her triumph over the wicked queen. And yes, I deliberately put her in dark clothing, to keep in scheme with the title...after all, she IS ony human.:)
And to me the real fairytale is "...they lived happily ever after."

For those of you who bother reading this far, I tried keeping in scheme somewhat with the Disney character as well. It really looks sloppy because I tried a different drawing style, and then changed in mid-stream, which was a bad idea, but at least I learned something.

There seems to be a certain look of triumph, you definitely got that. :)

Oh good, thanks. She's definitely not Cinderella. :)
I had, at one time, considered doing Rumplestiltskin...

No, she has a better dress sense than Cinderella. ;) Especially like this.
Ooh, that would look great! You paint older people so well.

:) thanks. I'm going through one of those mode moods...suddenly into mythological and fairytales. Who knows how long it'll last?

Great! Ever consider Norse mythology?

Yes, I've looked at them from time to time. I'm right in the middle of contemplating Wagner's Ring, though...it's a bit daunting...and besides, Rackham did a better job, I think. :)

That it is... I used to love those stories, though. Especially about Loki and the way he got on with Thor. :D
