Territorial wip finis by Hagge Territorial wip finis by Hagge
The finished product...more or less...:)

I've added the candle flame, having used an actual candle flame as a model. :)

I've lightened the color on the little dragon a bit more to my satisfaction, which in turn, allowed me to use other colors, and something called "impossible lighting".
I also changed the position of the tail, and I feel like it adds more depth to the background as well as helping establish a better perspective with the holder.

I also got rid of some...not all...of the blue, which feels better to me, and added a bit more definition to the "ground".

Detail on the candle and the holder are likewise completed.

And there you have it...a small young dragon with territorial issues. :)

Just wondering, what is "impossible lighting?"

It's the kind of lighting that can't possibly exist under the given conditions...but it enhances the picture and looks quite natural when done properly. Vallejo is a master at "impossible lighting". :)

As others have said, the candle looks completely believable. The little dragon is adorable, he makes me want to pat his head. ;A;

By the way, I now want that candle holder. D:

I'm doing my very first steps with ps at the moment and am currently struggeling with my first picture. Watching the development of your piece has really helped a lot! Thanks for showing the different stages of the procedure!
And then the finished work is really beautiful, except for many great details the dragon is simply cute! :giggle:
Fantastic piece!

They used to make multi-colored candles that dribbled rainbow colors...I haven't seen those recently, but then I haven't been looking for 'em either...did your brother sell his candles?
