Sunset in the mountains II by Hagge Sunset in the mountains II by Hagge
This particular theme is driving me crazy from the point of perspective. But it keeps popping up, and the only way to make it go 'way is to draw it! (I think people understand this...)
Of course I'm not happy with it! But if I work on it any more I'm going to ruin it!! On purpose yet!! <(two exclamation marks!!)

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen something quite like this before. There's something really interesting about the composition. I would've thought a flat rock wall would have looking boring, but it doesn't. There's so little space for the goats (?) to stand on that I'm imagining they might fall down any moment, and it gives it so much more ...action. I'm not sure this makes any sense but I hope you understand ^^ I love how you painted the rock as well, very realistic.

I like to think the word is "suspense", but that's just me. :) Yeah, I understand that.
Thank you. :D

I'd call it a success, really. I can see where the perspective gave you trouble, and I can completely relate, but still, I see success. :D There's a certain perspective I have always wanted to do with a full- or half-body shot, and I have no clue how to do it. :dohtwo: So I feel your pain.

*whew* Thank you! From you that makes my day! Rocks are one thing, people and animals quite another. :O

:D No worries! Rocks are still tough. A friend of mine said that everything has life, and that includes rocks. And I think that anything with life has personality, and personality makes drawing more interesting. ;)

:D ...Weird confession--I love rocks. ^^; I don't pretend I can perceive their personalities, but still. It'd be neat if I could, right?

What you'd likely be perceiving is more the energy than anything. And that's a part of life. :)

Wow! Those guys don't have much room to manuever! I love the perspective on this, really - I don't see many like this, from up top, down and at an angle, they're usually from the side or overhead ^^ I LOVE the colors - it looks so real :) I don't know how you manage all those rocks!

I cannooot get enough of your breathtaking atmospheres. Your pieces are truly worlds within worlds. What I would absolutely LOVE from you is an art book comprised of all your beautiful paintings. I know that would be something I would absolutely treasure and oggle endlessly!

Well, thank you, that's very nice of you to say so. But I've never considered publishing my art, odd as that may seem. Calendars, perhaps, but it's a goal I've never aspired to, just yet. :)

Hopefully this doesn't sound self serving, but I hope someday you do. I think your art inspires people. At least I can say that for myself. There are a handful of artists whom I would love to have a book of art from as there is something almost magical about having a bound collection of works from a favorite artist. Of course I state this all as a personal opinion and in fact am honored even that you would share your work online!

Well, thank you. I like to think my art inspires others, just like I've been inspired by other people's art (yours included, I might add) Perhaps it's a future goal I can set for myself. I notice you have your work published. How spendy does it get? Part of my problem lies in the current lack of funds.

well if you publish through Lulu it doesn't have to cost you a thing c:...just the time it takes to put together the book. You can purchase your own copies at base price to resell yourself or let Lulu sell them. Im waiting on an order from Lulu myself for a book I contributed to, but Ive seen their books before and they are very nice in quality and for fair prices as well.

It should be said here, I believe your work deserves a great deal more exposure than it has gotten yet. There is something simply magical in your landscapes...I really wish I could paint landscapes with the grace and fluidity that you do (not to sound utterly fangirly here!!!)

I've looked at that site, since you mentioned it. I need to think about this and talk with the rest of the family regarding it. Some one said it looks too good to be true, but I think he'll research it more, himself. Thank you for the insight.

Well, at the risk of sounding like I'm flaunting false modesty, I have to say I've never thought my art was that fantastic myself...but I'd still like to be able to do prints down the line.

I just got my first order from Lulu of a Book I was involved in and the quality is certainly lovely! I plan to hopefully put together my own book and will probably use Lulu to publish as well.

Take your time and please don't take my suggestion as insisting. I just wanted to let you know your work is appreciated ^__^.

Please, let me know if and when you make your own book...

Well, thanks, but you're not the only one who's suggested I make prints and the like...I've just never had a chance to get round to it, as life interfers more often than not...but down the line, it definitely gives me something to set a goal for. :)

and also, please don't stop following the theme if it tugs at you! No matter how many times you paint it, I think each time it will feel fresh and bold.
