Loki A by Hagge Loki A by Hagge
I've been working primarily with the pen tool in ps, something I've never really done, heretofore, and I'm quite pleased with my efforts...so far. :)

This is the Loki chosen to entered in the God and Goddess contest being sponsered by :iconellastasia:...so....

...this little Loki went to market.

Very dynamic, I love the background and the posing (which is something I absolutely can't do ^^; )

What I prefer here is the look on his face and the lighting on his skin! It's so convincing!!

I babbled over at your poll, but I'm still going to go on at each individual deviation because I'm like that. ;)

The details of the fiery background and the less chaotic (so to speak) details of Loki's skin and face blend perfectly, nothing jarring or out of place. I'll shut up before I go on further than that though. I can FEEL the babble boil!

I'm definitely diggin this Loki, more dynamic, a little more the true spirit of Loki, I think! a definite nod to the chaos aspect of the God. :winner:

I like this Loki better, she has a lot more of a dynamic pose and the background has this awesome kind of depth that recedes away behind her. The only thing that makes me really want to vote for the other Loki is the way her cleavage bulges through the hole in her top in this ^^; I mean that just about everything else in this picture is amazing - the lighting, the facial details, the look of strength in her arms - and I love that, but then my eyes go over to her chest area and I think, "...Norse godesses don't have titties?" xD Sorry, sorry.

I think the angle makes this a little difficult to picture right, but if you take a look at that other painting of Loki you drew with the top that has a hole in the chest, a detectable portion of the circumference of that hole passes over the top sides of the lobes of the godess's boobies. That means, from above, you should be able to just see the "collarline" wrapping around the edge of her chest; there should be material on top of the top of the breasts at their furthest extremity.

... Did I just make a whole post about boobs? I feel like giggling like a schoolgirl, but maybe you should look at some more women's breasts (any chick's fashion magazine will have them, and they have a range of clothing too, so you can see how that lies on the forms) and make personal notes to take references from that. Yes, it's for art. xD

Well, I giggled with you, but you made some very good points, here.
Loki was a male god, but he also disguised himself as a female, and actually gave birth.
Which is why I drew him like I did, and I think you were the only one to comment about it. However, your point of perspective is something I need to consider here, and I appreciate that. As Loki A is going to be the obvious choice, it's going back to the "shop" here in a bit, and get a retouch before I submit him. He does look a bit more boobacious, now that I've had a break from the picture. :D

Eheh. Loki isn't a goddess. He may have been a shapeshifter and trickster, but he is by default regarded as male. Hagge herself said, "his fire element form" in her comment here, so at the very least, the god she painted is a male version.

Ooops, I'm very very sorry, I did not do the research about this god. ^^; All right now I look like an idiot. Sorry again. I don't study Norse gods in my spare time. Sorry. Now I look at him again I guess he looks like a guy. Sorry.

He's very dynamic in this pose, and does look like the cunning trickster.

No worries. I'm a mythology buff, so I have these facts at hand, but that doesn't mean you need to have them. :)
