Ancient Archer by Hagge Ancient Archer by Hagge
He's now an Ancient Archer, one of a few who've spent their lives striving to improve the quality of the art of archery. A string made just so...the bow constructed with specific wood, and treated until it almost hums of its own accord...arrows refined and honed accordingly.
His life's goal? To construct the bow and arrows (and attitude) that will shoot through anything, and he's achieved a modicum of success...

...he, after decades of hard work, research, self discipline and trials, has shot a hole in the fabric of his existence.

A submission for Seventh Sanctum's latest contest. I chose something from the Fantasy generator: the Ancient Archer, and took it literally, this time. :)
It's actually the third picture I've started for the contest, but the only one I'm able to finish...

Well, of course, wrinkles have a particular pattern...learn them, and you can wrinkle someone's face with relative ease...:D That said, I have to say, I did use 2 ref photos, and mainly for the eyes.

That's cool, the way the arrow's just sitting there, stuck in the fabric of existence. What happens if it gets torn? Uh oh... think he went a little too far, lol.

Oh, thank you...I love his face too :D ...this one truly was fun...except for the background which went through about 3 different changes. :(

Backgrounds are always hardest.... Turned out great, though! And the stitching on his trousers is awesome too... :D

The original background was so detailed the arrow got lost. Sadly, it was a cool background, too, in my estimation. Yeah, thank goodness for the distortion selection on the palette. :D Thanks...I tried to make his shoes look something like Disney may have drawn way back when, but I think I should have exaggerated them more.

Oh... :( Ah, yes, how we all love the distortion tool. Makes marbling possible! ...Exaggerate them more how, though? Put bells on? Or unnecessary zippers?

Hm. Was never able to use the marbling tool successfully, darn it.
Exaggerate the tips more...make them more bulbous, almost cartoony...see, I'm so stuck on realism :(

Makes for good patterns, if you can crack the whip on it enough...
Oh, in that case, all I can say is: Work fast, close one eye, and make everything roundish or curved. ;p I ended up a cartoonist, and that's my work method. Stands to reason, eh? (p.s. don't take me seriously  )
